May Meeting Update

Meeting 15, Friday April 26, in San Francisco,CA

Our 15th meeting took place on Friday April 26, 2013 in San Francisco, CA.

photo (19)We had 4 teams present. 2 in person from the Bay Area. And 2 via skype from Istanbul. LingoEducation, a mobile and web-based language learning tool was a returning TurkishSparker which attended our first  TurkishSpark back in November of 2011.  A stealth startup focusing on the B2B distribution space. Selldigi, a simple payment system for digital goods. And SocialMap, an app for social interactions.

We talked about how/where to find co-founders, how to prove concepts. Various lean start up methodologies. Best ways to structure a bootstrapped company spanning 2-3 continents. We also debated about certain feature function sets for some of the existing services that our teams were  providing.

TurkishSpark Meeting – April 26

We will be holding our next Turkish Spark meeting on Friday, April 26, 2013. The exact location is yet to be determined, and will be announced to the attendees later.

Meeting 14, Friday March 29, in Palo Alto,CA

Our 14th meeting took place on Friday March 29, 2013 in Palo Alto,CA.

We had 4 teams present. Two in-person. Two via Skype video. Festywise, a social network and ratings service for festivals of all kinds. Arasuru, a social network focused on a subset of actions around personal achievements. Basal Nuclei, a SaaS service for event processing. And Sunmetrix, a satellite based solar resource measurement service for the solar industry.

photo (18)We discussed the importance of defining who the customer is, what constitutes value for the customers. We talked about the importance of proving the concept and its value prior to starting coding. We talked about ways to survey users regarding various social media features and functions. We talked about how to attract the first set of enterprise customers/users. We also talked about how to negotiate with technical co-founders who already have an existing business.

Meeting Rescheduled

Our next meeting, which had been previously scheduled for March 22, has been rescheduled to March 29 at 5 PM (PST). The meeting will take place in Palo Alto.

Next TurkishSpark Meeting, March 22

We are glad to announce that our next meeting is to be held on Friday, March 22, 2013.

No matter what kind of a project you are in, we would more than happy to welcome all entrepreneurs striving to make a change. We are especially interested in meeting those who are addressing problems regarding education, healthcare, mobility and cleantech.

Meeting 13, Friday February 1, in Palo Alto,CA

Our 13th meeting took place on Friday Feb 1, 2013 in Palo Alto,CA.

We had 2 teams, TrackStudent, a job focused student-employer social network and Heaptool, a stealth YC startup focusing on enterprise knowledge search  and management.

photo (17)We discussed the importance of validating the product value prior to investing in the product. For each project, we discussed the merits of various features and what to focus and position their value-add on. We talked about how to attract the first set of customers/users. We also talked about how to go about finding technical co-founder for non-technical founders.
